Saintscapes is the result of a collaboration between artist Claudio Beorchia (1979) and curator Matteo Balduzzi, and centres on the idea of observing transformations of landscapes and communities by documenting the many aedicules, niches, and small temples, places where statues and effigies of saints are situated, spread throughout the Italian landscape. He photographs from the saints perspective, with the camera at their eye level, marking the position and later adding a description, anecdote, or personal thought. The thousands of images he collected represent the visible part of a journey that lasted almost a year and generated discussions, meetings, and reflections.
