In 2015, Baptcare celebrated it seventieth anniversary. Beginning with the establishment of Strathalan Aged Care Home by Reverend William Pope in 1945, this book celebrates the people and institutions that made Baptcare what it is today. The organisation's most prominent workers have always upheld the core values of Respect, Justice, Commitment, Integrity, Accountability and Co-operation, as demonstrated by their stories. The subjects of these stories have one thing in common: they must have achieved a first. From the first Baptist aged care home to the first disability support program in Tasmania, these legends and landmarks have taken the organisation from its humble beginnings, through to being the pillar of the community it is today. Baptcare is now able to care for people from all walks of life, including children, families, older people, people with disabilities and asylum seekers. Baptcare is proud to present ten stories that will give incredible insight into the founding and growth of one of the Baptist community's most significant organisations.
